Awudua(WR), June 04, GNA – Mr Emmanuel Kwasi Ayensu, Prestea-Huni Valley District Chief Executive has appealed to the electorate to accommodate dissenting views during the campaign towards Election 2008. He advised them to avoid any acts that would mar the peace and stability prevailing in the country. Mr Ayensu made the appeal when addressing a durbar of chiefs and people in Apinto Divisional Area at Awudua as part of his familiarisation tour of the newly created district. He advised the youth who had attained 18 years to register during the re-opening of the voters’ register to exercise their franchise. Mr Ayensu announced that the 11-kilometre road linking Awudua and the main Tarkwa-Bogoso road would be rehabilitated this year to facilitate movement of goods and services. He said schools in seven communities including Awudua had been selected to benefit from the school feeding programme this year and appealed to parents to send their children to school. Mr Albert Kwaku Obbin, Member of Parliament for Prestea-Huni Valley Constituency, said 10 communities including Awudua would be connected to the national grid this year. Nana Kwabena Angu II, Apinto Divisional Chief announced that the Divisional Council would soon come out with sanctions against parents who refused to send their children to school. He pointed out that it was the responsibility of parents to cater for their children therefore, irresponsible parents should be dealt with, adding, “the Council would not allow parents to ruin the future of their children.”
