Two parliamentary candidates for Techiman North and Techiman South constituencies have withdrawn their candidature for this year’s Ghanaian general election.
They are Mr Emmanuel Godfrey Yeboah, a 48-year-old graduate teacher who was standing for the Convention People’s Party (CPP) for Techiman North and Mr Kofi Boakye Saarah-Mensah, 47, an Accounts Officer, standing for the National Reform Party for Techiman North.
Mr Anthony K. Oppong, Techiman electoral officer who disclosed this to the Ghana News Agency said this latest development has reduced the number of parliamentary candidates contesting the Techiman North constituency from five to four, whilst that of the Techiman South from six to five.
He noted that any parliamentary candidate is free to withdraw at anytime but only those who withdraw their nomination early enough would have their 200,000 cedis nomination fee refunded. The two parliamentary candidates said they are joining the National Democratic Congress (NDC).
