The Supreme Court will tomorrow rule on three preliminary applications regarding the petition by Nana Akufo-Addo, Dr Mahamudu Bawumia and Jake Obetsebi Lamptey challenging the 2012 Presidential election results.
These are the application for better and further particulars by President Mahama and the Electoral Commission as well as the application by the Petitioners to serve the EC with some interrogatories.
The Court had earlier heard submissions for and against the applications from counsel for the petitioners, the EC and President Mahama.
Upon a request to be heard on the matter and duly filing a motion, the Court on the 31st of last month heard submissions from counsel for the NDC, Tsatsu Tsikata who opposed the application from the petitioners to serve the EC with some interrogatories.
At the last hearing lead counsel for the petitioners Philip Addison had argued that the interrogatories are necessary because aspects of the case deal with over voting and wondered why Mr Tsikata was so interested in that matter since petitioners are asking only the EC, to provide details of registered Ghanaians living outside the country.
Lead counsel for the EC, Quarshie Idun also argued that all voting took place in Ghana and since no polling station existed outside the country there was no need demanding such information and pray the court to dismiss the matter on interrogatories.
