Election observation course opens next week

Accra, April 8, GNA – A 10-day training course for 25 election observers opens at the Kofi Annan International Peacekeeping Training Centre (KAIPTC) from April 14 to help build and strengthen the capacity of institutional partners and individuals in the West Africa sub-region to conduct election observation.

The course, the third in a series of four ECOWAS endorsed election observation courses to be held at the centre, would be held in collaboration with the German Centre for International Peace Operation (ZIF), a statement from the KAIPTC Centre said on Friday. It also aims at providing well-prepared West African personnel for future ECOWAS election observation missions.

The 25 participants represent selected civil society organizations from ECOWAS member states, includes Ghana, Nigeria, Burkina Faso, The Gambia, Liberia, Togo, Mali, Benin, and Sierra Leone, as well as the ECOWAS Secretariat.
