Ejisu-Krapa, (Ash), June 27, GNA-The Ejisu-Krapa Seventh Day Adventist (SDA) Church, has embarked on the construction of a two- storey school block, estimated to cost 700 million cedis, to make quality education more accessible to children in the Krapa community. Mr. Aboasu Amponsah-Koduah, an Elder of the Church, who announced this said the Church had already mobilised and injected 80 million cedis into the project.
Mr. Amponsah-Koduah, who announced this at the celebration of the 13th Sabbath of the Church at Ejisu-Krapa on Saturday said already drawings in respect of the project have been completed, while a total of 7,500 blocks have also been moulded at the site for take-off of physical works on the project.
The celebration was also used to honour two elders of the Church for their meritorious and dedicated services to the Church. They are Elder Paul Stephen Akwah-Mensah and Pastor Moses Arthur. Their awards comprised of a Bible and wall clock each.
Mr. Amponsah-Koduah said even though they were currently using the Krapa D/A Junior Secondary School as their temporary place of worship and for that matter needed a church house urgently, they still deemed it prudent to give priority to the construction of a school for the community.
He said the decision to construct the school was in recognition by the congregation that education was the key to development of all facets of life including the church.
Mr. Amponsah-Koduah however, gave the assurance that plans were afoot to start the construction of a permanent church house for their worships and services soon after completion of the school project. Miss Matilda Nantey, Music Director of the Church, who presented the awards to the elders who were honoured, said the honour was to inspire “the up and coming young ones to emulate the sacrificial spirit of the elders honoured”.
“A church which does not honour its dedicated and hardworking elders is not worth dying for”, she stressed.
Elder Akwah-Mensah and Pastor Arthur lauded the church members for their sense of gratitude and assured them that they would work hard enough to strengthen the church by embarking on a house-to-house evangelism drive.
