Eight-Year-Old Drowns in Abandoned Manhole at Budumburam

An eight-year-old boy has lost his life after falling into an abandoned, water-filled manhole at Blue Rose Estate in Budumburam.

The Budumburam Fire Station reported receiving an emergency call around 7:40 a.m. on Friday, November 28.

A response team arrived at the scene fourteen minutes later, where they learned that a 16-year-old, identified as Andrews, had already been rescued by residents and taken to St. Gregory Hospital.

Fire officers immediately launched a search for the second child, eight-year-old Elijah Carbah.

He was eventually found inside the manhole and rushed to the same medical facility, but doctors pronounced him dead shortly after arrival.
