Eight students sponsored by Nwabiagya Rural Bank

Barekese (Ash), Sept 5, GNA – Eight out of the 30 brilliant but needy students benefiting from the scholarship package of the Nwabiagya Rural Bank instituted in 1996, have graduated from the universities and other tertiary institutions.

Nana Owusu-Sarfo Anwona II, Chairman of the Board of Directors, who announced this, said 13 students were awarded scholarships into tertiary institutions last year.

He was presenting a 20-inch colour television on behalf of the management of the Bank to the Barekese Health Centre on Saturday, after the staff, management and Directors had undertaken a five-hour clean-up exercise at the centre.

Nana Owusu-Sarfo said the Bank had committed 80 million cedis into the improvement of infrastructure at the Barekese Secondary School and provided residential accommodation for the headmaster.

He said the bank was committed to the promotion of quality education and health delivery in the communities to improve upon the living standards of the people in its area of operation.

Madam Rose Sarfo, Principal Medical Assistant in-charge of the Centre, expressed appreciation to the Bank for its support and assistance and appealed to other institutions, organisations and individuals to help with the provision of means of transport and an ambulance.
