Eid-UL-Fitr celebrations held in Tamale

The Muslim Community in the Tamale Metropolis on Monday celebrated Eid-ul-Fitr with prayers at the Tamale Jubilee Park. The Eid-UL-Fitr marked the end of the Ramadan fast and during the celebration Muslims shared gifts and made merry.

Alhaji Ahmed Abdul-Salam, the Chief Imam of the Tamale Central Mosque, led the congregation through prayers and thanked Allah for a successful month-long fasting which is one of the five pillars of Islam.

They prayed to Allah to bless and transform Ghana’s ailing economy and appealed to parents to make education of their children a priority and inculcate in them the values of Islam.

Mr Abdul Rahaman Abdul Hanan Gundadow, Tamale Metropolitan Chief Executive, stressed the need for all to embrace peace.

He said although there was economic challenges the government had initiated measures to address them.
