Effia-Nkwanta Hospital calls for oxygen concentrators

Dr. Richard Anthony, the acting Medical Director of the Effia-Nkwanta Hospital, on Thursday said the facility needs of Oxygen concentrators, particularly, at the Children’s Ward to enable the hospital to provide quality emergency health care.

Currently, according to Dr. Anthony, the hospital had only a limited number of this life-saving equipment, as a back up to oxygen cylinders.

The situation, he described, as “quite worrying.”

Dr. Anthony told the Ghana News Agency, in an interview, urged corporate bodies and benevolent organisations to share some support for the advancement of the hospital, which was undergoing lots of transformation into becoming a teaching hospital.

He said the topography of the area continued to pose a big challenge and lauded the STMA for helping to fill a big valley within the conference of the hospital, and coal tarring the inner roads within the medical facility.

Dr. Anthony expressed gratitude to the hospital staff for the yeoman’s job they continued to do to bring quality and affordable health care to the people of the region, explaining, “No nurse has even stayed home regardless of the strike declared by unpaid nurses or psychiatric nurses”.
