The Planning Committee of this year’s Educational Fair (EDUCFAIR 2001) has said plans are far advanced for the completion of structures needed for the commencement of the fair, which would attract about 150 exhibitors.
The fair which comes off from 5th to 14th October, in collaboration with the Ghana National Chamber of Commerce and Industry (GNCCI) is expected to be a unique forum to buy and sell educational resources, systems and expertise to build partnerships together and create solutions that would respond to the educational challenges and to enhance the educational level in the country.
At a meeting to brief registered and prospective exhibitors about arrangements put in place to ensure a successful exposition in Accra, the chairman of the planning committee of EDUCFAIR and 1st Vice President of GNCCI, Mr. W. A. Krofah noted that activities are on course for a successful fair stressing that, half way to the commencement of the fair, the fair ground would attain its fruition.
According to Krofah, since the fair is governed by rules and regulations, exhibitors must endeavour to abide by it to ensure a smooth sail throughout the fair.
Outlining measures put in place to safeguard activities of the fair, the Chairman of the Planning Committee said arrangements have already been made with the security agencies to provide security on the fair ground, adding “we have formally requested for 80 strong police officers comprising plain clothes, detectives, uniformed men and women and other support officers”.
A sub-committee, consisting of representatives from Customs, Excise and Preventive Service (CEPS), Ghana Immigration Service (GIS), Police and some experienced people is also established to coordinate the security arrangements.
On utility services, Krofah maintained that services such as electricity, water, telephone, information and banking would be provided to ensure the exposition is not interrupted as ?150,000 is required to be made as deposits by exhibitors against water and electricity bills throughout the fair.
To ensure total security for the products against any eventualities, Krofah encouraged exhibitors to insure their goods for safety since the organisers would not be held liable adding that, the master plan for stands and site plans have been completed as the architects are in the final stages of allocating stands which would attract a compensatory fee of ?10,000.
According to him, a total number of 100 exhibitors have already registered, as a minimum of two shelves would be provided in each stand whiles additional shelves would be provided upon request.
