Educationist asks tutors to intensify activities of debating clubs

Mr Robert Benefo, Nkoranza South Municipal Deputy Director of Education in-charge of Inspection has urged tutors to facilitate the activities of debating clubs to broaden the horizon of students.

He said the clubs would also improve the knowledge of students in the English Language.

Mr Brefo gave the advice when addressing staff and students of Nkoranza Senior High School (SHS), Nkoranza Technical Institute and Kwabre SHS after a debate at Nkoranza on Tuesday.

The debate on the topic “Ghana’s Independence is Colonialism in Disguise” is part of this year’s Independence Anniversary celebrations for the schools to express their views about the past and present conditions in the country.

It was also aimed at selecting contestants for the Super Zonal Competition at Techiman before the Brong-Ahafo Regional debate in Sunyani next month.

Mr Brefo expressed the need for students to cultivate the habit of reading and undertaking research to update their knowledge towards the challenges of globalisation.
