Educationist appeals to teachers not share school grants as loans

Nkoranza, Oct 7, GNA – Mr. Jarvis R. Agyeman-Badu, the Nkoranza District Director of Education, has urged school management committees not to share school grants meant for school projects as personal loans.

Mr Agyeman-Badu was briefing chairmen of the school management committee, parent-teacher associations as well as head teachers of five school communities in the Nkoranza District that are being supported in by the United States Agency for International Development (USAID). The schools include Kranka Islamic primary, Tom Local Authority primary, Asonkwaa Local Authority primary, Dromankese Seventh-Day Seventh-Day_Adventist (SDA) Primary and Donkro-Nkwanta Anglican Primary. Mr Agyeman-Badu said the schools are being considered as model ones under the Quality Improvement in Primary Schools (QUIPS) project and that the performance standards of the pupils in those schools are expected to be outstanding from the other schools in the district. He advised the stakeholders to study the priority needs of the pupils and initiate programmes that would increase enrolment and retention of pupils in the schools.

Mr Agyeman-Badu said sports and games as well as cultural and library facilities should be provided in the schools to make the children happy and also take their studies seriously. ”USAID has provided each of the schools three million cedis to provide facilities to promote education in the communities.”
