Education oversight committee disburses money to schools and staff

Mankranso (Ash), Dec 29, GNA – The Ahafo-Ano South District Oversight Committee has disbursed 11 million cedis to head teachers and staff of 12 junior secondary schools in the district for their improved performance in this year’s Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE).

Staff from JSS at Asuadei, Kunsu Camp, Hwibaa, Nsuta, Dunyan, Nkwanta, Mpasaso, Wioso, Kunsu and Fawomang, received one million cedis each while the staff of Mpasaso-Dotiem and Essienkyem had 500,000 cedis each.

Speaking at the presentation of the money at a meeting attended by School Management Committees (SMCs), Parent-Teacher Associations (PTAs), religious leaders, chiefs, assembly members, teachers and other stakeholders at Mankranso, Mr J.K. Adomako, the District Co-ordinating Director, commended the head teachers and staff of the schools for the improvement in their performance.

He called for strict supervision of schools to ensure that teachers give of their best.

Mr Sampson Amofa-Krah, the District Director of Education, appealed to the beneficiary schools not to be swollen headed but let the incentive bolster them on to achieve even better results in the coming years.

He commended particularly Mpasaso Local Authority JSS who took the last position last year out of the 37 JSS in the district but sprang from that position to the seventh this year.
