Education officer praises 28-year old mother for returning to the classroom

Nkoranza (B/A), Jan. 30, GNA – Mr Kwabena Agyemang-Badu, Nkoranza District Director of Education, has commended Miss Elizabeth Anokyewaa, a 28 year-old mother for returning to the classroom after 14 years out of school. Anokeywaa, who hailed from Dandwa in Nkoranza South district, was in her final year at the Nkoranza Junior High School in 1995 when she dropped out of school due to pregnancy. She is now enrolled at Nkoranza Roman Catholic Junior High School as a first year student.

Mr Agyemang-Badu was full of praise for the young woman and advised her to concentrate on her decision and be humble to receive the needed support and attention in the school. He said the education directorate was prepared to provide her with a school uniform, bag and the necessary teaching and learning materials. Mr Agyemang-Badu cautioned other students to be careful and to shun practices that could ruin their future. He expressed regret at why some parents shirked their responsibilities and urged such parents to support and encourage their children to pursue high academic goals. He also advised students to take their education seriously and to eschew unhealthy practices. Anokyewaa said lack of financial support is her major problem especially for the upkeep of her children. She has, therefore, appealed to philanthropists to come to her aid.
