Education Minister warns lazy teachers; improve or get sacked

The Education Minister Professor Naana Opoku Agyemang has sent a strong warning to lazy and non-performing teachers to either up their game or get fired.

According to the former Vice Chancellor of the University of Cape Coast, she will not hesitate to dismiss teachers who don’t pull their weight and who also sully the name of their hard working colleagues with their bad attitude.

Prof. Opoku Agyemang gave the warning when she presented 7,200 RLG laptops to 300 basic schools in the Ashanti region on Wednesday.

“The teachers do excellent hardwork, it is just a few of us who sometimes do not pull their weights and it is always the few people who give us a bad name” Prof. Opoku Agyemang said.

The Education Minister added that “what we need to do is to support those people in the first instance, help them to perform better, give them what they need to also give out their best and when they refuse we need to show them the door because they cannot remain in the system and run everybody down”.

The computers presented to the schools cost about three million Ghana cedis. Each school got 24 laptops.
