Education facilitates survival, development of community – Odikro

Essaso (E/R), Aug. 23, GNA – Education is the backbone of the survival and development of any community, Baffour Obutu Frimpong, Odikro of Essaso in the West Akim Municipality has stated. He made the statement when he met elders of Essaso and a cross-section of the people here, to impress upon them that education brings development, hence the need to send their children to school.

Odikro Obutu, in his maiden encounter with his subjects and the people, urged them to continue to encourage their pupils to take their studies seriously.

He said he was prepared to support all their endeavours to ensure that education was really improved to enhance the socio-economic and political development of the community.

The Odikro appealed to the Ministry of Education, Science and Sports not to relent in its efforts at ensuring that education was brought to the doorsteps of the ordinary citizens.

According to him, the Essaso community included several villages where children had to walk several kilometres to attend school at Essaso.

He therefore, appealed to the sector ministry to endeavour to establish more schools, in addition to the only basic and Junior High School here, which was overcrowded.

Baffour Obutu expressed concern about the road network in the area and also made a passionate appeal to the West Akim Municipal Assembly to help reshape the roads in that part of the municipality, to ensure more foodstuffs transported to the commercial centres to feed the people.

The Odikro, with the stool name Baffour Obutu Frimpong III, known in private life as Mr. Kwame Atta, 48, recently swore the oath of allegiance to Afrasoahene, Nana Pietu from Asamankese, when he assured the people that he would use his rich business experience to help develop his community.
