Education Directorate wages war on misuse of teaching hours

Obuasi, May 17, GNA – The Obuasi Municipal Education Directorate has waged a war on the misuse of instructional hours to ensure effective teaching and learning takes place in all basic schools in the municipality. Speaking at the 7th graduation ceremony of Steadfast Academy at Obuasi Mr. Jonny Owusu-Boadi, the Municipal Director of Education, said “to sustain the enviable performance of schools in the BECE, my administration has waged a war on the misuse of pupils and students instructional hours”. Consequently, teachers have been asked to transact business at the Municipal Education Office only after classes whilst the use of mobile phones during teaching period has been banned.

Mr. Owusu-Boadi said these measures are also aimed at ensuring that “our children who are the future leaders are brought up properly to enable them confront the challenges of their time”.

He said monitoring and supervision of school activities in both the public and private schools have been intensified. Mrs Evelyn Sintim-Amankwaah, the Proprietor, said the school was committed to holistic education of the child. 17 May 10
