Education Director advises against use of cane

Nkoranza (B/A) May 05, GNA – Mr. Kwabena Agyemang-Badu, Nkoranza District Director of Education, has advised teachers against the use of the cane as corporal punishment on students as it was a banned practice. Addressing 60 newly trained teachers at an orientation course at Nkoranza, Mr. Agyemang-Badu urged the teachers to show love and compassion on the children and to handle them with care. He advised the teachers to lead morally upright lives and to be punctual to school.

The district director appealed to the teachers to assist the people in development programmes in the various communities they would serve. He asked them to endeavour to pursue further education to higher levels.

Mr. James Edjei Biney, out-going district secretary of Ghana national Association of Teachers commended the district education directorate for the workshop.

The Reverend Kubi Asuamah Yeboah, Assistant Director in-charge of Finance and Administration, who presided, called on opinion leaders to see to the welfare of teachers.

He urged school management committees and Parent Teachers Associations to help in the provision of accommodation for teachers posted to their areas.
