Editorial: Bank of Ghana; Please Deal With Ecobank

Our frontpage lead story reveals how the management of Ecobank has decided to keep mute over a multi-billion dollar scandal that has hit its establishment. The bank has for the past six months blatantly refused to update customer victims whose accounts were affected. And customers have lost their hard-earned monies to no fault of theirs.

It is important that the Bank of Ghana steps into this matter to compel Ecobank to do the right thing.

If nothing is done by the Central Bank, it can only convey a story of partnership fraud to dupe Ghanaians in the name of banking.

We hope that the Bank of Ghana would justify its regulatory status within the ambit of the law by applying the rules accordingly.

It is the Central Bank’s duty and Governor Amissah-Arthur has to act quickly.
