Amoanda (C/R), Jan. 18, GNA- The Edina Traditional Council, at the weekend settled a protracted chieftaincy dispute at Amoanda near Elmina, by installing a new chief and a Queenmother for the town.
The dispute began as a legal tussle by contenders of the vacant stool in 1951 after the death of Otuakwan Nana Nyarko Ansah III. The new Chief, Mr Leonard Quansah a 41 year-old businessman was installed under the stool name, Nana Nyarko Ansah VI, whilst the Queenmother, was installed under the stool name, Nana Koba Amankwaah. The Ebusuapanyin (Head) of the Anona Royal Family, Nana Kofi Ehuntsi, said at the installation ceremony that the dispute had affected the socio-economic development of the town.
The new Chief and the Queenmother called for the support of the people in the planning and execution of development projects.
