EC’s vehicle snatched at gun point

Kumasi, Dec 17, GNA – The incidence of carjacking is fast becoming more disturbing with the Electoral Commission (EC) having become the latest victim.

The Commission’s Toyota Hilux vehicle with the registration number GV 48 Z, was last Friday snatched at gun point at Nyimfuorkrom near Tepa on the Kumasi/Sunyani highway.

Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) Emmanuel Adu-Boahen told t= he Ghana News Agency (GNA) that this happened at about 1830 hours. The Cape Coast Municipal Electoral Officer, Anthony Nyame, who was driving to Sunyani from Cape Coast, was forced to slow down by the bad nature of the stretch between Nyimfourkrom and Tepa.

All of a sudden, two gun-wielding men crossed his vehicle with a taxi cab, forcibly took the vehicle from him, GH¢2,000.00 and a cell phone and sped off. Mr Adu-Boahen said the police were doing everything they could to tra= ck the stolen vehicle and appealed to the public to provide them with some useful leads. 17 Dec 10
