THE expected solar eclipse tomorrow will not affect flight operations, says the Ghana Civil Aviation Authority.
Lawrencia Agyepong, acting Public Affairs Manager of GCAA, told the Times in Accra yesterday that because aircraft use instruments and not visuals to operate, the event Wednesday would not affect flight movements.
She, therefore, allayed any fears of the eclipse causing flight problems. ?It will rather be exciting viewing the phenomenon while in flight,? she added.
She explained that it would have been a different thing if lighting and thunderstorm were going to accompany the eclipse.
However, Mrs Agyepong said the Authority was taking the necessary precautionary measures, adding that the traffic control tower would alert flights coming into Ghana?s airspace and those taking off of the expected change in weather.
About six planes are expected to be either landing or taking off at the Kotoka International Airport in the morning of Wednesday.
