President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has again assured workers of the Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) that, the move to privatize the company will not place any worker at a disadvantage.
He said government will ensure that the interest of all workers of the ECG is protected and that none is worse off after the company is privatized under the second compact of the Millennium Challenge Corporation, which is geared at achieving power supply efficiency.
President Akufo-Addo made the reaffirmation when the Trades Union Congress (TUC) called on him at the presidency in Accra.
The call was to apprise President Akufo-Addo on the concerns of the worker’s Union bordering on the ECG concession, SSNIT and the proposed sale of the Volta River Authority’s thermal plant.
Employment and Labour Relations Minister Ignatius Baffour-Awuah, who briefed the media after the closed-door meeting, said the President was emphatic that he would ensure no ECG worker is made worse off as a result of the privatization of the national power distributor.
