ECG concession: PUWU meets MIDA today

Leaders of the Public Utilities Workers Union will today meet the Millennium Development Authority over the protests that have heralded the planned privatization of the Electricity Company of Ghana.

Workers of the ECG last week demonstrated and suspended services for hours over the concession move by government.

They want government to halt the plan and rather pay its huge debts to the power distributor.

MIDA’s meeting with PUWU is expected to allay their fears over the move and stop the agitations.

General Secretary of the Public Utilities Workers Union, Michael Adumattah Nyantekyi told Starr News privatization is not the way to go.

“There should be a broader spectrum and other options including measures that will ensure there is sufficient management system in place and an environment devoid of political interference to enable the company work efficiently and profitably”.
