ECG complains about stealing of electrical cables

Mampong (Ash), June 3, GNA – The Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) has raised concern about

the rate at which electrical cables are being stolen in the Ashanti Region. Mr Erasmus Kyere Baidoo, Regional Public Relations Manager, said this has become a major operational

headache, which is adversely affecting the quality of service delivery to the public. He told the Ghana News Agency (GNA) at Asante-Mampong that since the beginning of this year

the Company had experienced eight cable thefts in different parts of the region. So far no arrest has been made. Mr Baidoo therefore invited the public to assist to track down and bring the offenders to justice. He spoke of the determination of the ECG to provide uninterrupted services to the public during

the world cup tournament. He called on the public not to hesitate to report electricity faults and cable thefts to the company

for prompt action.
