EC: We are ready for Kumbungu by-election

All is set for Tuesday’s by-election in the Kumbungu constituency in the Northern region that’s according to the Electoral Commission (EC).

The by-election was necessitated following the appointment of the MP Alhaji Mohammed Mumuni to serve the unexpired term of Sir Ibn Chambas as the General Secretary of the Africa, Caribbean and Pacific States.

Speaking to XYZ News, the District Electoral Officer of Kumbungu, Elliasu Ewuntoma said the constituency has taken hold of all voting materials and preparations are well underway for tomorrow’s bye-election.

Meanwhile, political parties have wrapped up their campaigns ahead of Tuesday’s by-election in the Kumbungu constituency.

The main opposition NPP has boycotted the by-election.

The PNC is backing the candidate of fellow Nkrumahist Party, the CPP.

Executives of the party say this is a step toward the realisation of a longtime dream of merging the two parties.
