EC urges public to be patients for vote transfer

Accra, Oct. 10, GNA – The Electoral Commission on Friday urged genuine applicants who want to transfer their votes to patiently wait for an official announcement from the EC after which they may go to the District Office where they reside to apply. A statement signed by Mr C. Owusu-Parry, Acting Director of Public Affairs, said it had come to the notice of the Commission that some registered voters who had changed residence and wanted to transfer their votes to their new locations had been calling at their District Offices to apply for such transfers.

“The Commission hereby informs the general public that it was not receiving or processing applications for transfer of votes now. It will come out officially with a date when genuine applicants would go and apply for the transfer of their votes.” The statement said all district officers had been reminded not to receive or process any applications for transfer of votes until the Commission officially announced a period for the exercise.
