EC to undertake public education on exhibition of voters’ register

The Electoral Commission (EC) would educate community based organisations and the public in Mpohor and Wassa East Districts on the forthcoming exhibition of the biometric voters’ register.

Mr. Yaw Amoako Gyasi, EC Officer in-charge of the two districts, announced this in an interview with the Ghana News Agency (GNA) on Wednesday at Daboase. He said at least 20 identifiable groups in the districts, including churches and professional bodies would benefit from the initiative.

Mr. Gyasi said that the programme would help educate the electorate on the voters’ register, which is new and associated with technicalities.

He said the exhibition of the voters’ register would enable the electorate to correct mistakes regarding spelling of names and bio-data, and to help them to ascertain their eligibility to vote during elections.

He said those who had already lost their voter ID cards would have them replaced.**
