EC organizes workshop for Central Region journalists

Cape Coast, Nov. 9 GNA – The Electoral Commission (EC) has organized a sensitization workshop for journalists in the Central Region at Cape Coast on the media’s role in the 2010 district level elections. The workshop, which was in collaboration with the Ministry of Local Government and Rural Development and KAB Consult, was on the theme: “Improving Citizen Participation in the 2010 District Level Elections through Enhanced Knowledge.”

The Public Relations Director and EC member responsible for the Central Region, Mr Christian Owusu-Parry, urged the journalists to be conversant with the rules and regulations governing the local elections by working with the EC.

He said the EC would continue to build closer relationship with the media to ensure a serene environment for the elections. The Central Regional Director of the EC, Mr Samuel Tettey, said part of their social responsibility is to support the media to set the agenda for public debate and to provide the platform for candidates to sell themselves. 09 Nov. 10
