EC meets parliament next week over 2016 elections

The closed door meeting is billed to discuss preparations being made by the EC ahead of the 2016 general elections.

Majority Leader Alban Bagbin, disclosed this when he presented the Business Statement of Parliament for the coming week.
Officials of the National Development Planning Commission (NDPC) are also scheduled to meet parliament.

Meanwhile, the country is still contending whether or not a fresh electoral roll is necessary for the conduct of the 2016 elections, pending the direction of a five member body.
The opposition New Patriotic Party insists the electoral album is bloated calling for a new one to be compiled ahead of the 2016 general elections; however the governing National Democratic Congress just wants the existing register to be purged.
