EC introduces ‘Special Walk-In Service’ to engage political parties

A new service dubbed ‘Special Walk-in Service’ has been created by the Electoral Commission (EC) of Ghana to engage with its public.

This special service targets political parties and independent candidates taking part in this year’s elections.

The service which is available on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 2:00pm to 4:00pm would allow party representatives and independent candidates the opportunity to meet members and key officers of the Commission without prior appointment to get their questions or concerns about the elections answered.

A statement signed and issued in Accra, Wednesday, by the Head of Communications for the EC, Eric Dzakpasu, said the new service will take place simultaneously in all Regional and District Offices across the country.

“The Walk-in Service, the first of its kind, is in line with the Commission’s determination to increase its engagement with the key stakeholders of the electoral process. It will compliment other initiatives being implemented by the Commission to increase access and transparency of the electoral process,” the statement in part read.

With the new service, the EC hopes that the parties and independent candidates will make good use of the opportunity and get close to the EC with all their concerns for them to be addressed.
