EC extends photo-taking in Kumasi due to high turnout

Kumasi, Sept. 17, GNA – Electoral officials in Kumasi have extended the photo-taking exercise to one more day due to heavy turnouts at most centres on the last day on Tuesday. The exercise, which should have ended yesterday Tuesday at 1800 hours, was to enable eligible voters, who started the registration process during the recent limited exercise, but could not complete due to shortage of photo films. The low turn-out that characterised the commencement of the photo taking exercise when the GNA went round some centres in Kumasi suddenly changed to scenes of long queues on the last day. Meanwhile, the exercise saw few incidents of registration malpractices. One Kwaku Sampana was arrested by the Ejisu Police for falsifying his age in order to register.
