EC defers Biometric Voter Registration of prisoners

The Electoral Commission in consultation with the Prison Authorities on Thursday deferred the Biometric Voter Registration of prisoners until further notice.

In a statement signed by Mr Christian Owusu–Parry, the Acting Director of Public Affairs explained that, the deferment has become necessary to give the prison authorities ample time to resolve issues regarding the true identities of some of the inmates.

The statement noted that the Commission would make the necessary arrangements to register the prisoners as soon as the matter is resolved.^^
