EC commended for organizing a successful voter registration exercise

The Mfantseman Municipal Chief Executive, Mr Henry Kweku Hayfron, has commended the Electoral Commission (EC) on the efforts it has put in, to ensure that a credible voters’ register is produced.

He said though Ghana was adopting the biometric registration for the first time, the EC has made it possible for the exercise to pass on smoothly so far without many problems.

He said the exercise had been a great success and urged Ghanaians to doff-off their hats to the EC.

Mr Hayfron made the commendation at Mankessim Old Nkusukum Palace Polling Station after he had registered.

He said pockets of misunderstandings which cropped up in some registration centres in some regions were the making of some aspirants who wanted to adopt means to circumvent the electoral process to their advantage; such as encouraging minors to register and transporting people from other areas to register in their constituencies.

Mr Hayfron called on Ghanaians to cooperate with the EC to ensure that the exercise ends successfully on May 5.

He urged the EC to take immediate steps to prosecute people who indulged in multiple registrations to serve as deterrent to others.**
