EC calls on security agencies to be professional

Mr. Kofi Asante-Owusu, the Bawku Municipal Electoral Commission Officer, on Thursday called on security personnel in the Bawku Municipality to be wary of deviant people in society and be professional in their duties during and after the December elections.

Mr. Asante-Owusu said some people might take their leniency to be a weakness to misconduct themselves to disturb the election process and added that if they performed their duties with vigilance, they would outwit people who might wish to cause confusion during the election.

He was speaking at the annual inter-security services route march organized by the security agencies and marched through the main hot spots of the municipality to create awareness and to assure the people of their protection.

Mr. Asante-Owusu said the EC was committed to collaborate with the security agencies to ensure a violence free election in the area and would continue to foster the relationship between the security and the EC.

Heads of security agencies who took part in the exercise commended the people in the area for giving peace a chance, saying it was the surest way to bring about development to their communities.

The Municipal Electoral Commission Office presented items including nonalcoholic beverages to the security agencies after the exercise to motivate them to perform their duties as expected.
