Eastern Regional police hunts bank accountant

Koforidua, Sept 14, GNA – The Eastern Regional Police Command has appealed to the public to help trace George Asare, 41, Assistant Accountant of the Kwahu Rural Bank Agency at Mpraeso, who allegedly stole GHC 12,939 belonging to the financial institution.

A statement signed by the Regional Police Public Relations Officer (PRO), Chief Inspector Nketia Yeboah, copied to the GNA in Koforidua, said the suspect allegedly stolen the amount from the bank after falsifying the accounts of customers.

The statement said the suspect, who hails from Akwatia is believed to be hiding ether in Accra, Akwatia or Adukrom and he was preparing to leave the country.

It said the circuit court at Mpreaso has also issued a bench warrant for the arrest of Asare, who bolted from the bank on June 16 when management detected the crime.

The statement said anyone who would help trace Asare would be reward.
