Eastern Regional Minister inspects projects

Mpraeso, Oct 8, GNA – The Eastern Regional Minister, Mr Kwadwo Afram-Asiedu, on Wednesday inspected developmental projects in the Kwahu West, South and East Districts. The projects included school buildings, road networks and a multi-purpose lorry park at Nkawkaw in the Kwahu West Municipality, a 20.4 kilometre road from Abetifi to Pepease, Pepease to Nkwatia and the St Peters Senior High School being constructed at a cost of 14 billion old Ghana cedis.

Mr Affram-Asiedu also inspected the boys’ dormitory of the St Peters School, which is in a deplorable state and said that the facility be renovated to enhance quality learning. The Regional Minister expressed worry about the delay in the executing of some of the projects, especially the Nkawkaw lorry park and said those projects were part of government’s economic improvement agenda.

Nana Boansi Dankwah, Kwahu West Municipal Chief Executive (MCE), who briefed Mr Affram-Asiedu on the lorry park project, said it was started seven years ago at an estimated cost of 6,000 dollars. He said the assembly was now constructing toilet facilities and the provision of electricity to enable the park to be opened for use by the end of November.

According to the MCE the estimated cost of the remaining projects was about 9,000 dollars and assured Mr Affram-Asiedu that “come what may the lorry park would become operational by the close of the year”. Mr Boansi Dankwah said parking spaces would also be allocated to articulated trucks to prevent them from parking along the roadside that sometimes resulted in accidents.
