Eastern Regional Co-ordinating Council to limit invitation to press

houses

Koforidua, Sept 26, GNA – The Eastern Regional Co-ordinating Council (RCC), says due to logistic and other constraints, a few specific press houses would only be invited to cover its functions in the Koforidua Municipality as well as other parts of the region. In a statement issued by the Public Relations Department, it said by that implication any pres house or journalist not invited could not purport to attend functions under the aegis of the RCC or would be allowed to join the press vehicle. “Please take further notice that the names of the press houses or journalists would be furnished to the organizations and municipalities/districts that host functions”. The statement said in the event that an invited press house /journalist wished to report on any function, “The Ghana News Agency (GNA) can be a credible source. The statement advised journalists to avoid seeking information from third parties other than the GNA, due to the fact that experience had shown that some reporters consciously contort “hearsay” reports and end up seriously misinforming the public. “It is hoped that this policy would be strictly adhered to, so as to avoid any possible but unintended embarrassment” the statement added.
