East Gonja District Assembly confirms President’s nominee

Salaga (NR), June 29, GNA – The East Gonja District Assembly on Wednesday confirmed Mr Amadu Abudu Musah, the President’s nominee as the District Chief Executive.

Mr. Musah polled 57 votes of the 62 assembly members present representing 91 per cent while five voted against him.

Mr. Musah called on the people to let his endorsement be a unifying factor and spur them on for the development of Gonjaland. He said it was important for them, irrespective of political affiliations, to seek the interest and the development of the area rather than engaging in petty squabbles that would frustrate development.

The DCE said he would collaborate with NGOs in the district to find ways of improving the education sector while the assembly would continue to support and motivate teacher trainees to accept postings to the rural areas.

The former DCE, Mr. Bismarck Haruna Dari, pledged his support for the DCE-elect and the assembly to ensure rapid development of the district. He commended the assembly members for the orderly manner in which the election was conducted and appealed to them to extend the same cooperation to the new DCE as they did to him while he was in office 29 June 05
