E/R records 16 road accidents with two deaths during Easter

Koforidua, April 19, GNA- The Eastern Region recorded two deaths in 16 road accidents during this year’s Easter celebrations. This was disclosed by the Eastern Regional Police Commander of the Motor Traffic and Transport Unit (MTTU) Mr Cosmas Kwesi Nti, in an interview with the Ghana News Agency (GNA) at Koforidua on Wednesday. He said one of the deaths was recorded within Suhum district where three accidents involving four vehicles occurred.

The other death occurred in the Akropong district where five vehicles were involved in accidents, and several people who received injuries were treated and discharged in local health facilities and hospitals.

Mr Nti said Koforidua district of the Service recorded one motor accident with two injured victims who were admitted at the Koforidua Regional Hospital, while in the Nsawam district, a vehicle knocked down a pedestrian who received minor injuries and was treated and discharged. He said in the Akim Oda District, a saloon car skidded off the road and knocked down a pedestrian who was admitted at the local hospital.

In the Nkawkaw District, Mr Nti said seven motor accidents were recorded in which a pedestrian was knocked down and admitted at the Holy Family Hospital at Nkawkaw.
