E/R: Police seize 42 slabs of ‘wee’ at MMT terminal

The New Juaben Municipal Police command has arrested two persons – Tetteh Richard, 36, unemployed and Awudu Musah, 40, a trader – for attempting to smuggle 42 slaps of compressed leaves suspected to be Indian hemp to Obuasi in the Ashanti region.

The arrests were made on Tuesday at about 9 am, Starr News’ Kojo Ansah has reported.

Speaking to Starr News, the New Juaben Municipal Police Commander Superintendent Richardson Kumeko said upon intelligence, the police monitored the two suspects who were attempting to transport the substances through a Metro Mass Transit Bus at the Koforidua branch Terminal.

He said a search conducted into four different bags in their possession uncovered the 42 concealed slaps of the suspected drug.

Supt. Kumeko said the suspects have claimed ownership of the substances, but explained that they bought the items from an unknown person at Akanteng in the Upper Manya Krobo district of the Eastern region.

The exhibits are in police custody pending forensic laboratory test as the suspects are being processed for court.

Last month about 204 bags of wee were retrieved at Apesika, a farming community in the Kwahu district in which 11 suspects are currently standing trial.
