E/R: Bees invade Nkurakan; one collapses

The Nkurakan Zongo community in the Yilo Krobo district of the Eastern region has been invaded by bees which have led to the collapse of a three-year-old boy.

The boy who was attacked by the bees has since been rushed to the Koforidua regional hospital for treatment.

Several others have also sustained injuries. The bee-hive is in the tower of a mosque in the community.

It is unclear what led to invasion of the bees but the situation prevented the Muslims from using the mosque for their usual daily prayers.

Shops close to the scene have been closed down while many others have deserted their homes.

Meanwhile, officials of the Ghana National Fire Service have been at the scene in an attempt to drive away the bees.
