E.P. Church to mark 67th Synod on its 161 years milestone

Ho, Aug. 6, GNA – The 67th Synod of the Evangelical Presbyterian (EP) Church, Ghana, opens at the Mawuli Senior High School in Ho on Thursday, 21st August 2008. The four-day Synod, to be held under the theme “Called to serve” will be attended by over 200 accredited delegates from the nine Presbyteries of the Church.

Reverend Frank Anku, Synod Clerk of the Church who disclosed this to the Ghana News Agency in Ho on Tuesday said observers from the sister churches in Togo, Ghana and others outside Africa would also be attending.

He said the uniqueness of this year’s Synod was that it marks the 161 years milestone of the Church during which a new Moderator and Synod Clerk would be elected.

The current Moderator, Right Reverend Dr. Livingstone Komla Buama and the Synod Clerk Reverend Anku, elected during the 59th Synod of the Church, would be leaving office having served two-four-year terms in office.

Rev. Anku said the Synod would be climaxed with a thanksgiving service and ordination of 12 ministers into the Church.
