E.P Church and Global Evangelical unite to bury former moderator

Ho/Anfoega, April 25, GNA – The Global Evangelical Church (GEC) last=

Saturday joined the Evangelical Presbyterian Church, Ghana, to pay their last respect to the late Very Reverend Professor Noah Komla Dzobo, former=

Moderator of the E. P. Church.

The occasion offered both Churches the opportunity in several years to come together under one roof to fellowship at the Dela Cathedral, in Ho. At a well-attended funeral service, Right Rev. Francis Amenu, Modera= tor of the General Assembly of the E. P. Church, Ghana, gladly introduced Rig= ht Rev. E. K. Gbordzoe of the GEC to the congregation after which they gave each other a warm embrace to the admiration of the mourners. Preaching the sermon, Rev. Amenu said there was the need to be patie= nt with one another as servants of God, questioning why there should be enmi= ty between brothers, communities and nations. He said there was the need to set things anew because the crisis, wh= ich led to the split of the E. P. Church, leading to the formation of GEC at the time the late Prof. Dzobo was the Moderator, brought pain to many people. Rev. Amenu said “now, it is time for growth and rejuvenation”.

Most Rev. Francis A. K. Lodonu, Catholic Bishop of Ho Diocese noted it was gratifying that the burial of Prof. Dzobo had opened a new chapter in=

the relations between the E. P. Church and GEC. He said his death was a victory because like Christ, he died to reconcile man to God.

Speaking to the Ghana News Agency, Rt. Rev. Gbordzoe indicated “We h= ave all come to bury our Moderator.” Prof. Dzobo was credited with several landmark achievements in the academia, education, tradition and theology. Notable among them was his chairmanship of a committee that led to t= he introduction of the Junior Secondary School concept now Junior High Schoo= l in Ghana. In accordance with his wish, Very Rev. Prof. Dzobo was laid to rest on the eastern premises of the Anfoega Bume E. P. Church, which he funded instead of the Church’s designated graveyard for distinguished members of=

the Church. Meanwhile, a government delegation led by Ms Akua Sena Dansua, Minis= ter of Youth and Sports had presented cash of GH¢10,000 and assorted drinks=

towards the funeral. Cash donations also came from the Volta Regional Coordinating Counci= l, Kpando District Assembly and the Member of Parliament for the area.
