Dzamesi says he is sure of victory in 2008

Dzodze (V/R), Sept. 5, GNA – Mr Kofi Dzamesi, Volta Regional Minister, on Tuesday expressed confidence in winning the Ketu North Constituency parliamentary seat next year.

He said his popularity had increased from 1,000 votes in 1996 to more than 10,000 votes in 2004 adding that victory awaits him in 2008. He made these remarks at Dzodze where he launched his campaign for next year’s parliamentary election after having been proclaimed New Patriotic Party (NPP) Candidate for the Constituency.

Mr Dzamesi, who was he sole candidate to have filed nomination in the Constituency for next year’s election expressed the joy that people in the Volta Region and Ketu North in particular were beginning to appreciate the developmental efforts of the NPP in the Region, although many did not vote for the Party.

“The NPP government has endeared itself to us enough and the time has come for everybody to embrace it for accelerated development”, he said.

He said 2008 would be his year and that he was ready to sacrifice and work with everybody to enhance the socio-economic development of the Constituency.

Mr Dzamesi said when elected, he would fight for the area to be given a district status and would established an MP’s Scholarship Fund to assist brilliant but needy students.

He appealed to the chiefs, elders, women and youth groups in the area to gird their loins to help deliver the seat for the NPP. Mr Dzamesi donated four motorbikes to the four zones forming the Constituency to enhance his campaign.

Nana Ohene Ntow, General Secretary of the NPP, introduced Mr Dzamesi to the people, describing him as affable, friendly and a development oriented personality. He urged the community to consider his good works in the Region and vote for him.

He appealed to the NPP leadership in the Constituency to accommodate people from other parties to their fold. “Reach out to all, irrespective of their political leanings and don’t push them away, we need them to win the elections”, he urged.
