DVLA collects GHC29,204,638.09 in six months

The Driver Vehicle and Licensing Authority (DVLA) collected GHC29,204,638.09 in revenue during the first half of the year, Mr. Noble Appiah, the Chief Executive Officer (CEO), has announced.

This, he said, came from the registration of a total of 68,647 vehicles.

The CEO indicated that the Authority had projected to register 75,542 vehicles during the period.

He was speaking at the opening of a national mid-year review conference of the DVLA in Sunyani.

It was held under the theme “Changing the face of DVLA towards self-sustenance and reliability in service delivery” and it brought together Directors, Deputy Directors, Regional and District Managers and their respective Assistants.

The meeting provided the platform to discuss its half-year performance and the way forward.

Mr. Appiah hinted that the DVLA was coming out with strategies to strengthen its operations to meet clients’ satisfaction, bring in more revenue and reduce cost.

He spoke of plans to launch mobile money service to get closer to its clients and make things convenient for them.

Mr. Justice Samuel Adjei, Deputy Brong-Ahafo Regional Minister, expressed worry about the increasing road crashes and invited the Authority to help deal with the situation.

The staff as technical people should lead the campaign to make the roads safe for everybody.
