DVLA CEO Appears before OSP Over Alleged GH¢4 Million Bribery Attempt

The Chief Executive Officer of the Driver and Vehicle Licensing Authority (DVLA), Julius Neequaye Kotey, has met with officials of the Office of the Special Prosecutor (OSP) following allegations that he was the target of a GH¢4 million bribe attempt.

Mr. Kotey appeared before the OSP earlier today after revealing that some influential figures had approached him with a GH¢4 million offer in an effort to halt the implementation of the new Digitalised Vehicle Registration Plate (DP) policy.

After the session, the DVLA head was seen leaving the OSP offices but declined to comment on the matter. He briefly told journalists that he would share details with the media at a later date.

According to the OSP, Mr. Kotey’s invitation was part of an ongoing investigation aimed at establishing the facts behind the alleged bribery attempt and identifying the individuals connected to it. The probe focuses on potential efforts to obstruct the DVLA’s digital registration project.

Meanwhile, the OSP has also initiated a separate investigation involving a member of the Council of State. The inquiry reportedly concerns possible acts of corruption linked to gold trading and alleged abuse of office in the awarding of a gold licence.
