Dutch family donates computers to Sekyere Rehabilitation Centre

Sekyere (Ash), Feb. 17, GNA – A Dutch family known as the Kamps family, has donated three computers and a printer valued at about 15 million cedis to the Sekyere Rehabilitation Centre/The Van Driel Preparatory School.

The donation was initiated by Miss Dorothy Kamps, a member of the family after spending three months of voluntary services to the centre and the school at Sekyere.

Mr Bert Kamps, head of the four-member Kamps family, made the presentation at the celebration of “Akwasidae” by the chief and people of Sekyere in the Sekyere East District of Ashanti on Sunday. Mr Kamps advised the beneficiaries to take full advantage of the facilities to become computer literate.

He said presently anyone who required academic and vocational training without adequate knowledge in the use of the computer would make it difficult for such a person to either acquire a job or develop his own enterprise and transact local and international business. Nana Kwabena Anning II, chief of Sekyere, who received the items on behalf of the centre and school, commended the Kamps family for their concern for quality education for Ghanaian children even though they were themselves foreigners.

The chief called on Ghanaians to emulate the good example of the Kamps family and resolve to die a little by sacrificing part of their resources in support of education and children especially in the deprived communities.

Nana Yaw Addo, Director of the centre, said the donation was a timely intervention by the Kamps family and assured them that the computers would be judiciously used to enhance the knowledge of the children.
