‘Dumsor’ won’t affect NDC’s fortunes – Bawa-Mogtari

The Campaign Spokesperson for the governing National Democratic Congress (NDC), Joyce Bawa-Mogtari, has expressed optimism that the lingering power crisis in the country will not affect the chances of the NDC in getting re-elected in the December 7 polls.

According to her, President John Mahama’s government has implemented several measures to mitigate the effects of the energy shortfall.

“You will agree with me that for the very first time, quite a lot has been done to salvage the power outages. The challenge has been more to do with climate change, which means we cannot depend on hydroelectric sources, so all efforts have gone into thermal sources. Either way, Ghana still has the largest access to power in sub-Saharan Africa,” she noted.

She added that the presidential aspirant of the NDC had demonstrated his passion and commitment through many development projects and believed that “Ghanaians are convinced that President Mahama deserves another four years”.

Ms. Bawa-Mogtari, who was speaking at a news conference at the party’s headquarters in Accra on Monday, August 8, in relation to the party’s preparedness for its campaign, said the NDC has the full complement of its parliamentary candidates and was poised for the elections.

She emphasised that the official campaign theme was: ‘Changing Lives, Transforming Ghana’, adding that the party would officially launch its campaign later in the month of August.
