‘Dumsor’ forces closure of British Council

The British Council office in Accra has shut down as a result of the power crisis the country is experiencing.

A statement posted on the Council’s Facebook wall Thursday said although the premises is closed to new engagements, individuals with “pre-arranged examination” can still come through.

“We are closed to all general enquiries due to power loss. However, if you have a pre-arranged examination please come to the British Council.

“Any inconvenience is deeply regretted,” the statement noted.

British Council is the UK’s organisation for educational opportunities and cultural relations.

It aims at establishing a mutually beneficial relationship between people in the UK and Ghana.

The centre in Ghana is part of a global network which consists of 110 countries worldwide.

The Council has operated in Ghana since 1943.
